Description

This is a voyage through the ocean of information. Combination of realms of imagination, understanding & perception is a trilayered process of learning. The syllabus with these characteristics is focusing on the holistic development of the students. Every child’s learning process is different & unique so teaching is helping them to learn ‘how to learn’. So it includes use of audio visual aid, working in pairs & groups, interactive classes with traditional modes of teaching.
In Writing Skill, this year we have taken up summarizing, note – making & note-taking in detail. Personal Statements,Mind mapping, Drafting Virtual messages & Group discussion are also included. Dialogue Writing, Views and Counter Views are expected to be learnt.
The grammar items are a revision of all that has been covered till previous std.
Prose section includes writings of R.K. Narayan, A.G.Gardiner, Virginia Woolf, Pico Ayyar, O. Henry to teach wit & humour, love for nature, search for identity, self esteem, broadening of outlook etc. This is an enriching combination of stories,essays, articles, travelogue adventure writing & biopic too.
Poems section is a really interesting collection of poems of Walt Whitman, Robert Southey, Dilip Chitre, Sarojini Naidu, W.H.Davies, Mamang Dai and Lord Byron. Which gives us a taste of different cultures, different people, different philosophies, which would realize the students comman tendancies if being human.
‘To Sir, With Love’ has a theme of student- teacher relationship, prejudice & racism, Jule Verne’s novel ‘Around the world in Eighty Days’ is full of adventure & excitement. ‘The Sign of Four’ by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a mind-blowing detective novel.
The Ice breakers introduce the text, the Brainstorming enables full comprehension of the text. Activity based questions foster critical thinking. Such is the journey to the HSC one step ahead.
