In India, 11th commerce is the first year of the two-year higher secondary education program for students who have completed their 10th grade or secondary school education. The commerce stream includes subjects related to business, finance, economics, and accounting.

The subjects in 11th commerce may vary from state to state and from board to board, but the core subjects typically include:

  1. Accountancy
  2. Economics
  3. Business Studies
  4. Mathematics or Computer Science
  5. English

Apart from the above-mentioned core subjects, some schools may offer additional subjects such as entrepreneurship, statistics, banking, and financial systems, etc.

The curriculum of 11th commerce is designed to provide a strong foundation for students who wish to pursue higher education in commerce, business, finance, or economics. Students who complete their 11th and 12th grade education in the commerce stream may choose to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate courses in commerce or related fields, or may opt for professional courses such as CA, CS, CMA, or MBA.

Maharashtra State Board

In Maharashtra state board, 11th commerce stream consists of the following subjects:

  1. Accountancy
  2. Organisation of Commerce and Management
  3. Economics
  4. Mathematics and Statistics (or Secretarial Practice)
  5. English
  6. Marathi (or Sanskrit or Information Technology)

In addition to the above core subjects, students have the option to choose an additional language subject (Marathi, Hindi, or French) or a vocational subject such as banking, marketing, or web design.

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) is responsible for designing the curriculum and conducting the exams for 11th and 12th-grade students in the state of Maharashtra. The syllabus for 11th commerce covers topics such as accounting principles and practices, business management, micro and macroeconomics, business statistics, and financial management.

After completing 11th and 12th grade education in commerce, students may pursue undergraduate courses in commerce or related fields such as B.Com, BBA, or BMS. They may also opt for professional courses such as CA, CS, CMA, or pursue higher education in economics, finance, or management.

BOOK KEEPING & ACCOUNTANCY

Book Keeping & Accountancy forms the core subject of the entire commerce umbrella. It is an appropriate mixture of theory and practice.

Learning book keeping in the initial years of junior college gives commerce students an upper hand in pursuing the career related to the domain of finance.

It is a subject requiring a strong conceptual understanding of the basic concepts on which the entire practice of accounting is based.

However fundamental it may be, the subject has become more and more relevant considering the introduction of block-chain technology in the accounting arena. 

The subject becomes very crucial for students who wish to pursue a career in finance and also to those who don't as this forms the building block of a further advanced subject named 'Financial Accounting'.

 

 MATHEMATICS

Mathematics is a subject that is divided in two parts. The first part is Mathematics that will develop the mathematical aptitude of the person. The second part is deals with the statistical analytical tools and commercial mathematics. This is an optional subject for Students of Commerce. The option available is Secretarial Practice.

All chapters in Mathematics and Statistics of 11th are just the continuation of Maths that the was learnt in 9th and 10th with a special focus on chapters related to commercial.

Taking maths will give an upper edge to Students  planning to do CA, CFA, MCA, Accounts, Finance, Economics, Data Analysis, etc.

 

 ORGANISATION OF COMMERCE & MANAGEMENT

The subject is important to develop an understanding of the  Processes of business and its environment,  the dynamic nature and interdependent aspects of business, the economic and social significance of the business activity, the practice of managing the operations and resources of the business, socio-economic and ethical dimensions of business. To acquire the knowledge of new trends in the field of business, knowledge of nature and scope of a business, small business,  private, public, and global enterprises including Internal trade.  To know about international business.

 

 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

This is an Era of Information Technology.

Every work in today's world is dependent on at least one reason on Computers and Internet. Whatever you are doing, either your own business or working for some institute, knowledge of Computers and the Internet is a must. If you don't have knowledge of how Information Technology works then there are quite a few chances that you will get stuck in your work or your speed of work will slow down or you will have to be dependent on IT professionals for small tasks.

Working with computers makes your daily works easy, time-efficient and accurate.

So, learning Information Technology as a subject in your Curriculum is a good opportunity.

 
 

ENGLISH

The subject is divided into four sections. Prose, Poetry, Writing skills & Drama.

Prose- Is a wonderful blend of essays, short stories, biographical sketches,speeches, articles which will develop a full profile sense of right & wrong in pupils. It also sensitises them to the experience of life which motivates them to express themselves in various forms.

Poetry- Is summarising, appreciation & composition of a few lines of poetry to enhance the joy of learning poetry specially rhythm of language.

Writing Skills- Examples of the various writing skills which are expected to be learnt. Leads the learner towards careers open to them in the field of writing, ICT based learning skills.

Drama- A glimpse of drama, an exciting branch of the literature. Some extracts from popular & loved plays. Encourages study of spoken language, & of contemporary society, art & culture.Learning languages with voyaging varieties is one of the most important aspect of any career. Sound prepared base of language is needed to build up any type of career

 

GERMAN

Despite advances in technology, human language remains the most essential tool for interaction and communication. Learning various languages help us to broaden our horizon.

‘Sprachlosten 1’ (Textbook for 11th) introduces young learners to the German language and cultural nuances in German-speaking countries. It offers learners basic vocabulary, grammar concepts in a systematic and creative manner.

Starting from day-to-day vocabulary learners can express themselves on a wide range of topics in a detailed manner, can use the language effectively and flexibly in their social and professional life, developing all the skills pertaining to language learning.

 

 ECONOMICS

Economics is a social science which deals with the fulfillment of human wants with limited available resources. As an academic subject, it includes consumer behavior, producer behavior, price determination, national income, the role of government in the economy, banking, concept, and evolution of money, international trade, etc. Economics is broadly divided into two branches – microeconomics and macroeconomics. Microeconomics deals with an individual component of the economy whereas macroeconomics is concerned with the economy as a whole. The microeconomic analysis is important for business decisions while macroeconomics is important for national-level policymaking. Economics seeks answers to the questions like, why does the inflation occur? Is it good or bad? Why unemployment rises? Whether the high population is a blessing or a curse? etc. It’s pretty interesting to learn the science behind the economic phenomena happening around us and I am going to teach this subject in the most possible comprehensive way.

 

SECRETARIAL PRACTISE

The subject secretarial practice deals with the origin, importance, features, types, appointment, qualities, qualifications, functions, duties of different types of secretaries, the functioning of joint stock company. The subject is more practical and related to the recent business environment, ever changing compliances in the business which are required to be followed. It is very important to understand business correspondence, secretarial correspondence with Directors, Registrar, Banks and Insurance company.
