About NET SET Exam

The NET SET exam is a series of exams conducted in India to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of assistant professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.

The National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC), while the State Eligibility Test (SET) is conducted by state-level agencies.

The exam consists of multiple-choice questions and is held in various subjects such as humanities, social sciences, science, and management. Candidates who qualify for the NET or SET exam are eligible for assistant professorship or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in various Indian universities and colleges.

To appear for the exam, candidates must have a master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks. The eligibility criteria may vary slightly for different subjects and categories.

NET and SET exams consist of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Paper 1 is common for all candidates and is aimed at testing the teaching and research aptitude of the candidates. The paper consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, each carrying two marks, and the duration of the paper is 1 hour. The syllabus for Paper 1 includes teaching aptitude, research aptitude, communication, reasoning, and general awareness.

Paper 2 is based on the subject that the candidate has opted for. The paper consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, each carrying two marks, and the duration of the paper is 2 hours. The syllabus for Paper 2 is specific to the subject that the candidate has opted for.

The NET and SET exams are conducted in various subjects such as humanities, social sciences, science, and management. Candidates must choose the subject that they have a master’s degree in and wish to pursue a career in teaching or research.

The minimum qualifying marks for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are different for candidates belonging to different categories. Candidates must score above the cutoff marks to qualify for assistant professorship or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in various Indian universities and colleges.

Proficient Academy conducts guiding sessions for paper 1 (Common paper) of all the subjects and paper 2 for Commerce only.
